General Affidavit

STATE OF Indiana, COUNTY OF Vigo SS: In claim No. 670084 of Alice and Chas. Varner heirs of Jacob " of Co. I/B/I/I? of the 27/13/16/1 Regt. of Ind. Vols./" Cav./" Inf/US Vet, Personally appeared before the undersigned duly authorized to administer oaths within and for said County, Eunice Varner aged 86 years, whose P.O. is Terre Haute, County of Vigo, State of Indiana, who being duly sworn states in relation to said claim as follows to wit:
Alice Varner was born July 4" 1870. The reason I know I was at her mothers house the next morning after alice was born and Charles was born of the 7" of July 1872.[1] I was at her mothers house the 2nd day after charles was born. I am the mother of Louisa Varner now Robison.[2]

  1. These ages must be incorrect. Another document give ages that are three years older, and Alice and Charles appear in the 1870 census as 4 and 1 years old.
