Note from Alec Purdy Sept 2007: There is no known connection between John Purdy and Avice Taylor and the Francis Purdy of Fairfield CT. It was a proposed (by Clayton Purdy who has also never said that there is documentation) possible link back in the 1990's but only on the basis of similar names. Since that time other Francis Purdys have been found in England who are more likely, but English records are not complete and there has not been an exhaustive search made of English records that do exist. There is a possibility that DNA can refine the search, if suitable descendants are found in England.

The date and location of emigration to America is pure fiction invented by someone with too much time on his hands. Neither Clayton nor myself have ever been so delusional as to even guess when Francis may have emigrated, other than to realize that he must have entered a Massachusetts port and must have known the Brundish family before 1639.

There are only three facts known about Francis: 1. he and Mary were married before Aug 5 1642, 2. he and Mary lived on a lot originally bought by her father which was given to her as an inheritance (her brother indicated that this lot could be considered part of his inheritance as eldest son) 3. he died in Oct 1658 at Fairfield CT.
