Collection: This map is based on Rand McNally's 1884 map of Virginia and West Virginia as described below. The portion shown includes the boundaries of Old Augusta County about 1770, based on the presentation in Source:Doran, 1987. At the time shown the Southern and western boundaries had not been finalized, and are shown as dashed lines. The heavy magenta line is in Rand McNally's original and marks the VA-WV dividing line.
