For one dollar and other "valuable considerations" (the swap of their home next to the ball field in Venedocia), Paul and Violet Ashton purchased Martha Pugh Jones' home in April 1946. Two of Martha's sisters, Mary E. Jones, and Laura P. Uhl, and their husbands, had to sign off on the deed. At the time, Mary E. and Milton Jones were living in Sarasota County, Florida. Violet told her granddaughter that Mrs. Jones, a widow, wanted to downsize. At the time, Paul and Violet were expecting their second child.
