This family tree explorer has potential. I have now created a couple of trees and they show up on my home page. Is there a way to remove them?

Remove trees from home page [29 February 2008]

Dallan will add delete tree to file menu today or tommorrow. If you want to have a tree it must be listed on your user page.--sq 09:30, 22 January 2007 (MST)

I am attempting to delete a tree so I can start over; however, there is no delete button on my File menu. Help!--MaryMcCBell 17:29, 28 February 2008 (EST)

Hi Mary. I don't have a DELETE button in my FTE either, so this must be a feature Dallan has removed, probably because there is another way to delete or manage your trees. In the blue menu bar at the top of a page (you don't need the FTE open for this btw), click on MY RELATE and then towards the bottom of the menu list, click on TREES. From there you'll be able to delete your tree. If you need any more help, just holler. <g> --Ronni 01:30, 29 February 2008 (EST)

Recommended usage?

I'm wondering how this is intended to be used? Are the trees visualized starting with a single person? Obviously with the living person restriction, I can't have a tree starting with me. Should I create one with all my first-level deceased relatives (so 8 first-level individuals), or create one per relative (so 8 trees)? --Joeljkp 19:20, 22 January 2007 (MST)

This is a good question. It seems like managing one tree might be easier. How about if we add a "bookmark" feature, where you can bookmark each of your first-level deceased relatives, and selecting one of your bookmarks makes that person the primary person in the tree?--Dallan 09:46, 23 January 2007 (MST)

Uploading GEDCOM [16 February 2008]

I exported my tree from ancestry.com as a GEDCOM file (9.1MB). However, after importing it to FTE there are no people shown. I've tried doing this three times with the same result. Help!--Bmarkjones 17:00, 15 February 2008 (EST)

It looks like an old settings file had somehow gotten installed that limited imported GEDCOM's to 5MB. I'm sorry about that - thank-you for reporting it. It's fixed now.--Dallan 21:36, 16 February 2008 (EST)

Family Tree Explorer online genealogy program [6 May 2009]

Isn't there a (British) trademarked site called Family Tree Explorer at www.familytreeexplorer.com? It was a bit confusing when I saw the wiki's Flash application with the same name. - Parsa 02:09, 4 February 2009 (EST)

That's the new name for PedigreeSoft. They changed the name after we had already started using Family Tree Explorer as the name for our application. I'm not sure if they've trademarked their name or not.--Dallan 11:07, 6 May 2009 (EDT)

Navigate to the Family page for your grandparents. Edit the page. Correct the value in the Husband or Wife field (click on the "Find/Add" link to link to an existing or new Person page for the correct spouse). Then save the page.--Dallan 15:12, 4 March 2010 (EST)
