Deceased persons only [3 January 2017]

Should we start by reminding users to choose someone who is already deceased? Many websites allow living people and this is the first place where we are different.

I added notes to the menu page itself (under Before you start). This needs refinement.--DataAnalyst 01:12, 4 January 2017 (UTC)

Baptisms or christenings? [3 January 2017]

I have always felt that there should only be one way of presenting this. Perhaps by titling the box Baptism/Christening. An adult baptism could be allowed under Optional Events. We certainly get a lot of users leaving the Christening line empty and then filling in the Baptism line at the bottom. Only what is in the Christening line is used automatically in place of an empty birth line.

We just follow the GEDCOM standard. But if you enter a baptism date without either a birth or christening date, WeRelate will treat it just like a christening date, so we are covered (I just tested this in the sandbox). I did add a note to the help to say "christening (infant baptism)" to inform those that might not be aware that they are the same thing.--DataAnalyst 01:14, 4 January 2017 (UTC)

Possible rewording and questions [3 January 2017]

"Enter the place name in the following format (for places in the United States): City or Township, County, State, United States. Do not enter the words "Township" or "County". Enter only what is known - e.g., if the city is not known, start with the township, county or country.

"Once you enter a comma, pause a few seconds and WeRelate will present a dropdown of potential matches. Select a match or continue typing to refine the dropdown. You can skip a part of the place name - for example, you can enter city, state to get a list of all places with that city name in that state.

1. I have changed the words Township and County in the first para from italics to quotes.

Done--DataAnalyst 01:34, 4 January 2017 (UTC)

2. Change to: Just before you go to enter the first comma, pause a few seconds...
The moment I enter the first comma the dropdown disappears.

It is supposed to be after the comma, and that works for me. If you pause after the first space, you'll get a menu as well. If your dropdown is disappearing, I would report that on Support (and indicate which browser you are using). The only time I have found entering a comma is a problem is if the place page has " (township)" for disambiguation - and even then, I get a dropdown, but my township is not at the top of the list. I'm open to better wording, but can't deal with refining it tonight.--DataAnalyst 01:34, 4 January 2017 (UTC)

3. "for example, you can enter city, state to get a list of all places with that city name in that state."
This doesn't always work outside the US. And Boston, Massachusetts, United States comes out in red when all I want is a reminder of its county.

I have clarified this in both the Quick reference and the Further information.--DataAnalyst 01:34, 4 January 2017 (UTC)
