[add comment] [edit] Question [27 July 2009]The discussion of the Streeter Bible (in NEHGR as cited, repeated in Source:A genealogical history of the descendants of Stephen and Ursula Streeter of Gloucester, Mass., 1642, afterwards of Charlestown, Mass., 1644-1652 : with an account, mentions that the Bible itself was published in Edinburgh in 1693, so the records mostly all pre-date publication of the Bible. I was trying to confirm this marriage, in 24 Dec 1698 per the Bible, and notice that Rebecca would have been 50 at the time of her first marriage, which is somewhat unusual. Also, I can find no information about Thomas Skillings, including any hint of a first marriage, which implies he also got married for the first time at a similar age, with a birth probably before 1650? He could not belong to the Skillings family of Maine/Massachusetts (Family:Thomas Skillings and Deborah Prince (1) - [sic-Prince is probably incorrect maiden name]). I wonder if the year was written wrong, say 1668 or 1678 instead of 1698. The dates don't seem to be written in date order, rather by birth order of sibling, but it is over 25 years after any other sibling? Are any other sources known? --Jrich 14:07, 27 July 2009 (EDT) |
