It appears there may be two Thomas Stiles one, birth 1640 London, England death 1 November 1675 Somerset CO., MD marriage about 1667 Somerset CO., MD to Alice Link, with children Thomas, Elizabeth and John.

The other was birth about 1642 London, Middlesex, England (some say Somerset, Maryland) death 1676 Somerset City, Somerset, Maryland marriage about 1667 Somerset City, Somerset, Maryland to Alice Major with a son Thomas.

Unfortunately I can find no supporting evidence for any of the suppositions although there is a lot about a Thomas Shiles who married Alice Major and links the three children to her, the source for the marriage is unclear but the children are mentioned in his will. There is also mention of a step son, William Waller, though that is a vague source about property sales and seems to call him Thomas Shields, but it seems Alice Major had a son from a previous marriage.

If I add the sourced details to the family it may make the matter clearer.-Rhian 12:58, 8 February 2016 (UTC)
