Family talk:Thaddeus Olmsted and Hannah Pitkin (1)

marriage date [30 October 2009]

Wonder if the marriage date shown might be old style? Connecticut Nutmegger, p. 41:226 has abstract of will of Caleb Pitkin of Hartford dated 6 Mar 1766 which still names daughter Hannah Burnham. This would be consistent if marriage date was actually 24 Mar 1765/66, i.e., the given date 24 Mar 1765 was old style.

BTW, the will also names sons Joshua, Caleb; daughters Dorothy wife of John Goodwin, Sarah wife of Nathaniel Olmsted; Jerusha wife of Samuel Olmstead; grandchildren Thankful and Mabel Bidwell. --Jrich 09:19, 30 October 2009 (EDT)

I agree with your conclusion re: marriage date and was unaware of the additional source. Thank you. I am new to werelate and the wiki format. I stumbled upon these pages and was disturbed that so many were not sourced, so I thought I would jump in and get my feet wet. I see that you are interested in adequate sourcing. Perhaps I could ask you some questions pertaining to this project?
1. Did I provide enough information for the actual sources (i.e. I did not fill out all of the boxes each time for a book that resides in the public domain)?
2. I was concerned about the future possibility of broken or lost links, so I included the actual text for each citation. I think it is helpful to have it right in front of you, but I can appreciate that, if many sources are involved, including the text for each citation might be too much. What is your opinion?
3. Oftentimes, the same source citation information applies to several individuals and/or families (in my case family units listing vitals for parents and children). Since the process of creating a citation appears to be unique to each person or family page, I found myself having to re-enter the same citation information over and over again each time I wanted to attach it to an individual page. I must be missing something... Is there a quicker and easier way to attach the same citation information across multiple person and/or family pages without having to re-create a new citation each time?
4. Lastly, would you like to update the relevant pages with the info that you provided? I wasn't sure from your message .....Thank you again! --Cos1776 11:59, 30 October 2009 (EDT)
