Elizabeth "Riffe" [1 December 2011]

Some researchers have Peter's spouse as Elizabeth "Riffe". She is said to have been born Aug 2 1767 and to have married Peter in Montgomery County , Virginia in 1786 . If that were the case then at least 3 of Peters children were born prior to his marriage to Elizabeth .

It is known that the Riffe lineage also came from the Palatinate region of Germany and like Peter immigrated to the Philadelphia , Pa area and that Peter Riffe Sr left Pa for Wythe County , Va in 1771 and that he served in the Revolutionary War under Captain Howe of the Montgomery County Militia and that Elizabeth was born in Montgomery County . There is no evidence to support the idea that Peter Cline had association with the Riffe family in Pa or Va. however .

There is a great deal of circumstantial evidence to support the Riffe marriage claim but until documentary evidence is found i have chosen to list Peter's spouse as Elizabeth ?
