Family talk:Obadiah Parker and Hannah Stevens (1)

No sources [15 March 2020]

There is probably a problem with this,. There are too many Obadiah Parkers, Ruth Stevens and Hannah Stevens.

The biggest problem with this is that there is no source posted.

So why do you think it might be that the information presented here is true? Alternately, what problems do you have with it?

Personally, I see no other marriage between Obadiah Parker and any Hannah in Massachusetts in a reasonable timeframe, the children of Obadiah and Hannah correspond to those named in the will of Obadiah Parker (allowing for a few that died young), are born to a mother named Hannah starting soon after the date of his marriage, and his widow was Hannah. There could be better proof: there seems to be no probate for her father nor any obvious deed showing Obadiah receiving or selling land that once belonged to the father, but I only did a cursory search. I wouldn't call this proven, but it seems accepted in some secondary sources I can find.

Looking at it the posting there questions raised that reference to a source might explain. For example, it is one thing to say Obadiah's wife name is Hannah Stevens if you cite a marriage record, but another to connect her to a birth date of one specific Hannah Stevens. A link to Find a Grave would show that the age of death on her gravestone suggests it is correct. Why are not the associated parents entered if the birthdate is known?

An actual source for the death death date might provide the useful explanation that she remarried and died under a different name. Later posters looking for death records for the name Hannah Parker might have little luck, especially as the page does not indicate this second marriage.

People will eventually fix page like this, but please give them a hand. Please identify your sources. --Jrich 03:02, 16 March 2020 (UTC)
