[add comment] [edit] Probably not Mary Corbin [7 April 2014]As speculated in the source on Nathaniel's page, she is thought "probably" to be the widow of John Corbin, maiden name unknown. As near as I can see in a quick search, it is not even known what the name of John's wife was, when he died, etc., so I think even the author's use of the word "probably" is somewhat optimistic. But as they only had one daughter, Hannah m. Nathaniel Sessions, who didn't carry on the Corbin name, it doesn't appear the author of the Corbin Genealogy spent much time trying to figure these things out. But he does show Mary Corbin m. Joseph Gardner and was named Mary Gardner in 1696 so she was not the one who married in 1688. Neither John nor his daughter is mentioned in his father Clement's will. Clement appears to be the immigrant, and only his children would be of the right age to marry in 1688, so either it is a different Corbin family, or the speculation that it is the widow of John, if he died, seems correct. --Jrich 15:01, 7 April 2014 (UTC) |
