Family talk:Nathaniel Richardson and Mary Peacock (1)

All Mixed Up [15 November 2008]

The wife of this Nathaniel (born 1651) was named Mary, as is shown by the recorded birth of his son Thomas:

Source:United States, Massachusetts, Middlesex, Woburn. Records of Births, Deaths, and Marriages, 1640-1900, p. 1:211: Richardson, Thomas, s. of Nathaniel and Mary. April 15, 1687.

However, his wife Mary was not Mary Peacock. She was the wife of a different Nathaniel Richardson.

Vital Records of Billerica show:

Peacock, Mary and Nathanel Richardson, May 7, 1703.

The Nathaniel Richardson that married Mary Peacock was the nephew of this Nathaniel, the son of his brother Thomas, recorded in the above referenced Vital Records of Billerica on p. 159:

Richardson, Nathaniel, s. Thomas and Mary, Jan. 25, 1679-80. [Nath'll M.R.]

The parents of the older Nathaniel, b. 1651, were Thomas, b. 1608, and Mary (---) Richardson.

The parents of the younger Nathaniel, b. 1680, are the Thomas and Mary (Stevenson/Stimson) Richardson shown here, but this Thomas was born 4 Oct 1645 (see page 1:210 of Woburn births) not in 1608.

This page effectively loses an entire generation. --Jrich 18:29, 10 November 2008 (EST)

I checked Torrey's New England Marriages (the source originally cited) and it only gives Mary --- as the wife of Nathaniel Richardson, m. 1675. It does not say Mary Peacock (as it wouldn't since she got married 1703, after the cutoff for inclusion in the book). Since I thought this page meant the Nathaniel who married Mary Peacock, and created a new one for his uncle Nathaniel (see Family:Nathaniel Richardson and Mary Unknown (1)), I am going to add data for the Nathaniel Richardson and Mary Peacock to this one. That means that the child James has been moved to the uncle's page (see Person:James Richardson (3)), and that the birth and death dates given here which used to match the aunt and uncle roughly, will now match the nephew Nathaniel and his wife Mary Peacock. --Jrich 19:13, 14 November 2008 (EST)
