Family talk:John Sinclair and Anne Chase (1)

marriage date [17 July 2014]

Removed the marriage date BEF 14 JUN 1704. The source cited was "New Hampshire Wills", more formerly, Source:New Hampshire, United States. Probate Records of the Province of New Hampshire, p. 526-533, which is the will of Anne's father, Joseph Chase of Hampton, allegedly dated 14 Jun 1704, and naming daughter Anne Sinkeler (i.e., Sinclair).

This is pretty much impossible. Anne's previous husband did not die until Jan 1708/09.

The published transcription appears to have misread the date of the will. Besides the year, it also says the "thirteenth Year of Queen anne her Reign". According to wikipedia:Anne, Queen of Great Britain, that reign started 8 Mar 1702, so the thirteenth year, starting after 12 are completed, would be sometime in 1714. Meaning the date of the will was actually 14 Jun 1714. The will was proved 12 Feb 1717/18. Adjusting the date of the will to 1714 is consistent with the death of her husband, and her apparent marriage to John Sinclair about 1710 based on the birth of a child 15 Apr 1711. --Jrich 04:53, 18 July 2014 (UTC)
