Family talk:John Lawrence and Elizabeth Unknown (1)

Elizabeth's name is frequently given as Cooke, daughter of Aaron and Elizabeth (Charde) Cooke. Elizabeth Charde Cooke Ford came on the Mary and John with her second husband Thomas Ford, son Aaron Cooke, and their daughters. NEHGR's compilation of passengers makes no mention of a daughter Elizabeth Cooke. (See NEHGR 147:154). I also can't find any account of John Lawrence that names his wife's maiden name, except Torrey. Torrey lists his sources as "McCormick-Hamilton 766; Tubbs (1956) 21C; Watertown 330; Charlestown 606; Lawrence (,1) 18; Farwell (1929) 192, 193; Davis-Everett 31; Tingley-Meyers 249; LBDF&P ,373; Reg. 87:280, 89:211" The Reg. cites don't list a last name, neither does Lawrence, Farwell, Davis-Everett or Tingley-Myers; I don't have access to the others. What's the source for it, and does it just say Cooke, or connect her to parents? It's also odd to have Elizabeth's birth in 1611 at Wissett, Suffolk when Aaron and Elizabeth married in 1610 and had a son in 1613 at Bridport, Dorsetshire.--Amelia 00:43, 19 July 2008 (EDT)

I certainly defer to you scholorship. I presume you are saying that John Lawrence and Elizabeth Unknown is really all that has been established, and that children shown for John Lawrence and Elizabeth Cooke really belong under John Lawrence and Elizabeth Unknown....??? ---Jrm03063
I really doubt that the parents are proven, but Torrey could have grounds for the name Cooke from one of the sources I can't find.--Amelia 18:06, 19 July 2008 (EDT)
