Edwin Pountney Davis, the author of Davis of Acton Turville, Gloucestershire, Ca.1500-1678 doesn't think that John and Agnes Davis of Acton Turville were identical with John Davis and Agnes Chandler married in Frocester in 1577, as he thinks 1577 is a bit early for the marriage of John Davis of Acton Turville. Also, there is no evidence of an Alice in the family of John and Agnes Davis of Acton Turville.

It is even less likely that John and Agnes Davis of Acton Turville were identical with John Davys and Agnes Samon married in Eisey in 1575 (earlier and farther away).
