Family talk:Jacob Farrar and Ann Unknown (2)

Can't make sense of this page [4 April 2011]

On the one hand, Jacob's baptism in England is recorded correctly (albeit as a birth instead of baptism). On the other hand some wife is named who could not possibly be his wife and doesn't match what is known of his wife and doesn't match even the source that give his baptism record?

Jacob had two wives, one a Grace who was mother of his eldest child, and secondly a wife Ann who immigrated with him to New England. Now Ann and Hannah can be used interchangeably, but several sources (including Source:NEHGR, p. 95:10, Source:Cutter, William Richard. New England Families, Genealogical and Memorial, Source:Farrar, Timothy. Memoir of the Farrar Family) all give her maiden name as unknown. Further this page says she died in 1675, whereas Jacob's wife survived his death 1677, was co-administrator of his estate, and remarried in 1680. Clearly there is an error here, and one can only assume there is some confusion with a different person.

Which different person is hard to determine due to the lack of sources. Some searching has yielded nothing about a Jacob Farrar and Hannah Smith, so it is unclear if there is such a family. I am going to detach Hannah Smith, and rename this page so that it continues to represent Jacob's (second) marriage. --Jrich 09:48, 4 April 2011 (EDT)
