Simon Stone Genealogy : Ancestry and Descendants of Deacon Simon Stone of Watertown, Mass., 1320-1926, p. 85, says William Stone m. about 1753 Esther (Gale) Haven, the widow of --- Haven, but the cited marriage record gives her name as Esther Gale. Bartlettt says she had a son David Haven who took the surname of Stone. This all suggests the son David was probably illegitimate, and there was no marriage to Mr. Haven.
