Some continue to claim that Elizabeth and Thomas are the children of William Stone and his wife Verlinda. However, William's 1659 will names them as the eldest daughter and eldest son and gives them special bequests, then Verlinda's 1674/75 will mentions William's other children, but neither Elizabeth nor Thomas. This leads many to conclude that Elizabeth and Thomas are the children of William's previous marriage.
