Judge Obadiah GORE ...contracted with William PRESHER to build a grist-mill on the river opposite the Valley House, on the Tatemy lot, June 6, 1807. This was known as the Presher mill, and was the first grist-mill in the township.

William Presher was the pioneer miller of Sheshequin. Upon coming into the Valley, 1807, he saw the great need of a grist-mill for the accommodation of the settlers. He laid the matter before Judge Gore who gave the necessary assistance and a mill was built which Mr. Presher operated until his death in 1822. [1]
