The 1810 census records show three William McClintocks in Washington County, but no John McClintock or Daniel McClintock. It is possible that all three sons lived in William McClintock’s residence so that the household included three adult men (William, Daniel, and John), one adult woman (Mary McGowan), three young sons (John, William, and James) and two young daughters (Nancy and Sallie), all under 10 years of age, and .

The transcription gives the makeup of the three families. Family 1 has enough young adults and five young children, but there are two boys and three girls instead of three boys and two girls. Family 2 doesn’t have enough young adults and has far too many children. Family 3 has enough young adults but not enough small children. The older adults in Family 3 could be Mary McGowan’s parents (William and Mary McGowan), but this is quite unlikely since the 1910 census also lists a William McGowan of age older than 45 living in Canton township with a woman of age older than 45 and a young adult.

Thus Family 1, with 5 small children, seems to be the best fit to what we know about William McClintock and his family.
