"According to tradition in our family I have often heard that Grandfather William Griffith came from Wales about the year 1682 or 3 or between that and 90. He first settled in Newcastle County Delaware. He came a poor man to America and remained poor all his life; lived to be 105 years old - nine of his last with his son, my father. My father William Griffith was born in New Castle County 1714; I have no recollection of ever hearing of Grandmother Griffith, her name or family."
