At Birch Island
The Church of St. John and St. Paul, Birch Island. B.C., was setting for the wedding of DOROTHY LORRAINE LEAKE, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Leake, Birch Island, to WILLIAM L. DOWNEY of Kamloops. The bride wore a period wedding gown of white slipper satin, with bouffant fine lace skirt and illusion veil. She carried a white prayer book covered with gardenias and pink rosebuds.
Barbara Wilson, bridesmaid, wore a lemon net bouffant period frock. Mr. Frank Woodward of Littleford was best man. The reception was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. Wanless, Birch Island, and later the couple left by car for a tour of the Okanagan. For travelling the bride wore a turquoise blue dressmaker suit with white accessories.
