  4. The only current evidence for divorce, as opposed to a simple separation, is the census of 1920, in which Carrie is recorded as divorced in the household of her uncle, George Brown in Detroit. Will is recorded as single in Sweet Grass County, Montana. The date for the divorce is estimated, based on the fact that Carrie is living with her mother and her uncle in 1920. Shortly after this she moved to Owosso, and lived with her sister, Sara Whitmore Reynolds while she trained as a nurse at Owosso General Hospital. In 1924, she was a part of the first graduating class from this hospital.
