The Origin of the Four Younger Children

For whatever reason, Professor Hazen and Mr. Jacobus did not attempt to connect the four children of "William" baptized at Cottingham with William Acy of Rowley, Massachusetts. However, the baptismal dates for Mary, Elizabeth and John correspond so closely to what we know of their later careers in New England, that the possiblity of coincidence is minimal. Abigail, who is not generally ascribed to William and Margaret (Haiton) Acy, but was so identified by Mrs. Holman and her daughter in Stevens-Miller also has a Cottingham baptism consistent with the wife of the second John Remington.

Margaret Haiton?

One cannot help but wonder if "Haiton" is another version of the surname "Hidden" which appeared in Rowley, Mass., as early as 1649.
