Pete and his wife had three sons and two daughters. MONROEVILLE. WILBUR J. "PETE" OBERLEY, 77 of Monroeville, died Tuesday, March 13, 2007, at home. Born in rural Monroeville, he was the son of Arthur and Amelia Oberley. He was a lifelong farmer and member of St. Louis Catholic Church-Besancon. The U.S. Army veteran served during the Korean War and was a member of American Legion Post 330. Survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Anne; children, John (Sandy) Oberley of Monroeville, Linda (Shawn) McArdle of Spencerville, Paul Oberley of Fort Wayne, Susan (Mike) Nygra of Brownsburg and Brian Oberley of Monroeville; sister, Eileen Castleman of New Haven; and grandchildren, Lydia, Elyse, Will, and Sophia Oberley, Ryan, Andrew, and Aaron McArdle, Rebecca, Alicia, Elena, and Evan Nygra. He was preceded in death by sisters, Esther and Edith; and brothers, Robert and Arnold. Prayer service is 9:15 a.m. Friday at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 Indiana Hwy, 930 E, New Haven, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Louis Catholic Church-Besancon, 15535 Lincoln Hwy. E., New Haven. Calling is 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with Vigil Service at 7:30 p.m. Burial at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery, New Haven. Memorials to Cancer services of Allen County, Masses to the church or Parkview Home Health & Hospice. Pete is buried in Besancon Cemetery at St. Louis Catholic Church in New Haven, Indiana. |
