Arthur and Amelia had six children, three daughters and three sons. When Arthur registered for the draft for World War I, he was living in New Haven, Indiana, and he was farming. He was married with one child. He was described as of tall height and medium build with brown eyes and brown hair. In 1920, Arthur and Amelia were living in Jefferson Township of Allen County, Indiana, with three daughter, Ester, Eillen and Edith. In 1930, Arthur L. and "Cornelia E." were living in Jackson Township of Allen County, Indiana, with their five children, Eileen N.,11, Edith N., 11, Robert A., 4 5/12, Arnold P., 2 9/12, and Wilbur J., 2/12. In 1942, when Arthur registered for the draft for World War II, he was living in Monroeville, Indiana. He was 52 years old. He listed Mrs. Amelia Oberley, his wife, as next of kin. He was farming for himself. Arthur's obituary reads, "ARTHUR L. OBERLEY. Arthur L. Oberley, 69, of R. R. 1, Monroeville, was found dead in bed at 8:30 a.m. yesterday. Living most of his life near Zulu, he was a retired farmer and a member of St. Louis Catholic Church, Besancon. Surviving are the wife, Amelia; two daughters, Mrs. Edith Ternet, Zionsville, and Mrs. Eileen Castleman, Monroeville; two sons, Arnold and Wilbur, both of R. R. 1, Monroeville; four brothers, Edward, Elmer, and Russell, all of R. R. 1, Monroeville, and Alton, Fort Wayne, and 15 grandchildren. The body was removed to the Marquart Funeral Home, Monroeville, where friends may call after 7:30 p.m. today. Final rites will be conducted at 9 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home and 9:30 in St. Louis Church, with burial in the church cemetery. Rosary services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home." [Fort Wayne Journal Gazette, Sunday 18 January 1959, pg. 10A] Amelia's obituary reads, "AMELIA OBERLEY. Services for Mrs. Amelia Oberley, 82, of R. R. 1, Monroeville, will be at 8:30 a.m. Saturday in Marquart Funeral Home, Monroeville, and 9 a.m. in St. Louis Catholic Church, Besancon. She died at 3:45 a.m. yesterday. Mrs. Oberley, a native of Payne, Ohio, lived in the Monroeville vicinity most of her life. Surviving are two sons, Wilbur J. and Arnold P., both of Monroeville; two daughters, Mrs. Eileen Castleman, Monroeville, and Mrs. Edith Ternet, Brownsburg; a brother, Francis Mourey, San Diego, Calif.; and two sisters, Mrs. Cecelia Oberley, Monroeville, and Mrs. Edna Snyder, Convoy, Ohio. Friends may call after 2 p.m. today. Joint Rosary services by the parish and the Rosary Sodality will be at 8 p.m. today. Burial will be in the church cemetery."
