I haven't yet found a marriage record for Washington and Adaline Hinson possibly because they were living in Gwinnett (a burned county) when they married. Published in A History of Forsyth Co., GA are a number of letters, written before the war, between Adaline and her brothers. Also letters written by Washington's mother and sister, Sarah and Gadsy. These letters identify Adaline as: Nancy Adaline Hinson.

Gale, There is a book entitled Kinfolks: 1850-1980 The Driskells, compliled by J.C. Driskell, Ponderell Publishers, 1980. According to the author, a Driskell cousin, Washington married Adeline Hinson in Calhoun County, Alabama in 1849. Later in his book, he gives the date 25 Feb 1849 for the marriage. I have checked the Alabama Marriage Records online and cannot find their names. J.Cleburne died some time ago, so no hopes of knowing if he had a marriage record. I do know he went through all the letters and documents which had been in Grandma Driskell's box.

--GaleB 11:07, 2 February 2010 (EST) Thanks for the information. You didn't use the signature button so I'm not sure to who I'm responding? (It's on the toolbar right below the words Family History). I'm going to guess Mr. Cleburne found the marrage date in the box of letters. But, the family did not move to Calhoun Co., AL until the early 1850's. The 1850 census and the records of Suwanee Baptist all show Washington in Gwinnett Co., GA until 1851. I think Mr. Cleburne just had the wrong county and state. I have not seen the book so I'm not sure if he had all the information from Gwinnett Co. If I recall correctly, Adaline's family was from Forsythe Co., before moving to Tennessee.
