PRETTY OLD-WORLD GOWN WORN BY GRAFTON BRIDE
A charming old-world gown of white marquisette over taffeta, beaded in silver was worn by Miss Majorie Anne Garside of Grafton for her marriage to Mr. Warren Douglas Skelton, of Newcastle. She also wore a traditional orange blossom halo from which fell a beautifully embroidered full length veil. The bride is the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Garside, of Grafton, and the groom, the only child of the late Mr. G. Skelton and Mrs. O. Skelton, of Newcastle. The chief bridesmaid was a childhood friend of the bride, Miss Shirley Steffensen, of Grafton, and the other bridesmaid, her cousin, Miss Muriel Platt, of Sydney. The best man was Mr. Leslie Jones, of Newcastle, and the groomsman Mr. Graham McLaughlin, of Newcastle. The ceremony was performed in the Christ Church Cathederal, Grafton, by the Rev. C. E. Thomas. During the. signing of the register, Mrs. G. McLaughlin sang "Because."
Mrs. Skelton chose for her travelling gown an ensemble of chartreuse, embroidered and beaded in burgundy and gold. She added black accessories. Her bridal bouquet was of eucharis lilies and roses. The bridesmaids wore identical frocks of heaven blue marquisette over taffeta. They were made in old world style. Picture hats of blue tulle were worn, the crowns being encircled with gold chrysanthemums. Their flowers were gold chrysanthemums, roses, and blue delphiniums. At the reception Mrs. Garside, who received the guests, wore navy crepe beaded in silver and cyclamen." Mrs. Skelton assis- ted her. She chose a frock of peanut brown moss crepe, heavily sequined. The reception was held at the Criterion Hall. Many friends and relations travelled from Sydney, including Mr. and Mrs. G. Conn, Mr. and Mrs. G. McLaughlin, Mrs. A. Wrightson and son, Morris, Mr. and Mrs. J. Lewis and Mr. Frank Platt.
