Walter and Regina were married by Rev. H. A. Hoerstman.

A newspaper article on their wedding reads, "Participants in Double Wedding Ceremony Which Was Large and Pretty Event of Week. Ryan, Miss Elizabeth Wilhelm, maid of honor, and Mrs. Ryan, formerly Miss Regina Wilhelm. A pretty wedding of this week was that solemnized Tuesday morning at the St. Andrew's Catholic church, when the Misses Regina and Cecelia Wilhelm, twin daughters of Mr. and Mrs. John Wilhelm, of Molitor street, were united in marriage respectively with Mr. Walter J. Ryan and Mr. Cyril E. Ort. Mr. Ryan is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Ryan, of Gar Creek, and Mr. Ort is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Balser Ort, of Lillie street. The couples are now on a honeymoon trip to the northern lakes after which they will return to this city to reside. Mr. and Mrs. Ort will make their home with the former's parents and Mr. and Mrs. Ryan with the latter's parents." [Fort Wayne News-Sentinel, 23 August 1924]

Walter and Regina had three daughters.

Walter was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

He was 68 years old when he died.

Walter's obituary reads, "Services for Walter J. Ryan, 68, of Winter St., will be at 9:45 a.m. Friday in Klaehn's South Anthony Chapel and 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Rev. Andrew Mathieu officiating. Burial will be in Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel after 7 p.m. today. Rosary services will be at 8 p.m. Thursday. Mr. Ryan died at 12:30 a.m. yesterday in Lutheran Hospital where he had been a patient one week. A native of Gar Creek, he had lived in Fort Wayne most of his life. He retired from International Harvester Co. in 1966 after 22 years of service. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church, the Holy Name Society and the Catholic Order of Forresters. Surviving are his wife, Regina; three daughters, Mrs. Bruce Hapner, Mrs. Bert Van Horn and Mrs. Maurice Stucky, Fort Wayne; 14 grandchildren; three brothers, Sylvester, Byron and Thomas, Fort Wayne; and three sisters, Mrs. Walter Wagner, Monroeville, Mrs. Orville Zink and Mrs. Elsie Alter, Fort Wayne." Regina's obituary reads, "Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church for Regina M. Ryan, 74, formerly of 4840 Winter St., who died at 11 p.m. Wednesday in Parkview Memorial Hospital. She was a lifelong Fort Wayne resident. Surviving are three daughters, Delores Van Horn, Ruth Ann Hapner, and Lavonne Stucky, all of Fort Wayne. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Klaehn's South Anthony Chapel. Burial will be in Catholic Cemetery. Preferred memorials are gifts for Masses at the church." [Fort Wayne Journal Gazette, Friday, 11 Jan 1980, pg. 12C]
