Anne Charnock is often (and popularly) cited as the wife of Vincent Cox, with a marriage of about 1653 in England. However, there do not seem to be any references to original records for this information, and Vincent was already in Virginia well before 1653. The popularity of Anne as Vincent's wife may be based on speculation arising from the name of Vincent's oldest son, Charnock Cox. (See, for example, Boddie, John Bennett. A Mary Bennett has also been named as the wife of Vincent Cox, again without reference to original records (see Cox Family Tree and Documents, contributed by Sandy Row, Northumberland County, VAGenWeb. A Robert Bennett was apparently a neighbor of Vincent Cox in the 1660s -- perhaps further ressearch could find evidence of a marriage?
