The father of Henry and his sister Levina Willis Kinder is John Willis. John Willis was the illegitimate son of Daniel Burford. John Willis' wife is unknown. John had 50 acres on Catawba Creek bordering the land of Stephen Willis (no relation) and the Mitchell Family in Augusta Co., VA. John Willis had an ongoing lawsuit with the Mitchell family for many years. John Willis died a pauper in 1772 in Botetourt Co., VA. Multiple Willis descendants have taken the Big Y700 Test, which has confirmed our Willis line descends from the line of Daniel Burford.

John Willis was a carpenter by trade. He built Buck Creek Mountain Church in 1746, in Louisa County, Virginia.
