Family:Unknown Johnston and Nancy Moore (1)

After the death of her betrothed Charles Latimer, Nancy Moore married a Mr. Johnston, first name unknown. (M. C. Johnston signed her album, with a poem entitled “Farewell.”) He was apparently a South Carolinian.

Della West remembered that “Aunt Maize liked Charles Latimer, but did not like Johnston, thinking him haughty and arrogant.” Their only child was named “Mat,” probably Mathew, and a pencilled notation (scribbled like a child) in Nancy’s' album “M. C. Johnston was borned 18th December, 1831,” must have given the birth date of her son, Mathew C. Johnston.
