  1. In Ephraim Pond's probate, Deborah is Deborah Pond when admitted as administratrix in 1710, but in 1737 she is referred to Deborah Bacon. The identity of her second husband is unknown. No other record has been located to help solve this problem.

Source:Baldwin, Thomas W. Bacon Genealogy : Michael Bacon of Dedham, 1640 and His Descendants, p. 166 and p. 179, is useless in resolving this. It almost certainly gets various marriages incorrect. One of the most likely candidates is Thomas Bacon Sr, who is about the same age as Deborah. Of him, this source indicates his wife d. 1710 and that he did not marry again until 1746. That is implausible. Of his son Thomas Bacon Jr., he is said to have married 1711 at the age of 18 to Esther Thurston who d. 1713 and them married for the second time to Deborah (Fales) Pond, presumably by 1723 when a daughter was born. This is also implausible.

The marriage to Esther Thurston in 1711 is found in the records and is almost certainly the father, as the son was too young. The children born to Thomas Jr. and Deborah are undboutedly the son and not this Deborah. But her identity as Deborah (Fales) Pond appears to be fictitious, as no such person being found. Suspiciously Fales is the maiden name of the father's first wife, and Deborah (Hawes) Pond may be the father's third wife, and this is probably confusion by the author, as suggested by leaving a 36 year gap between marriages for the father.
