    The "History; Town of Isle La Motte Vermont" by Allen L. Stratton says Truman married Affia Holcomb, daughter of Carmi. However, Newell A. Holcomb, in an interview published in "Portrait and Biographical Album of Jo Daviess and Carroll Counties, Illinois" says his grandmother was Affina Wheeler and even reports that she was a cousin of Vice President [William Almon] Wheeler. Of course, she could have been his cousin without herself being named Wheeler and that may be the cause of the confusion. A search of the town records of Isle La Motte might clear up the issue.
