Many records list Kenelm's mother as Mary, daughter of Kenelm Bucke, due to speculation in a series of articles in the 1960s by John G. Hunt. Although there are Burke connections and the association with Kenelm Bucke does explain the name of Thomas's son, Mary Burke, Kenelm's daughter unmarried in 1647, cannot be the mother of Kenelm who was buying land and having a son in the 1660s. It remains possible, however, that Thomas married a sister or niece of Kenelm.

Thomas was documented to have married Eleanor Peacocke on 29 Jan 1538/9 in Severnstoke. Eleanor's death is not documented, and since Kenelm's birthdate is a matter of speculation, she could have been his mother, although it would make him quite young for land transactions in which he was engaged in the 1560s.

Interesting information. The original information I had shown was that Mary Bucke (or Burke?) was descended from the Nevilles, through her mother, Ellen. Her great, great, great, grandparents were Ralph de Neville, the 1st Earl of Westmorland and Joan Beaufort, the daughter of John of Gaunt, Duke of Lancaster and Katharine Swynford. I'll be sadly disappointed if that's not the case here. RSUndehul 22:51, 17 March 2008 (EDT)
