Family tradition says John Tisdale was from the "town of Wales" in England. In 1854 H. A. Somerby was commissioned to research family, and said John was son of Thomas of Ripon, Yorkshire, baptized 7 Nov 1614.

  2. Thomas and Ruth Tisdale were identified as parents of John Tisdale by H. A. Somerby. Given the known often "creative" nature of Somerby's work,* Thomas and Ruth should be treated as speculative parents until such time as further evidence can be found to corroborate the relationship.
