Family:Thomas Scott and Clara Rooney (1)

From the Geddes paper (transcribed into a family history): SCOTT ** Rooney We made mention last week of the marriage of Tom Scott to Miss Clara Rooney, at the Catholic Parsonage, Rev. Father Brenes officiating. The groom is the son of Mr and Mrs John Scott, splendid citizens of the county, and the young man grew to manhood in good old Charles Mix County. The News is proud the entire Scott family. Mr and Mrs Scott will reside at Sioux City where the groom is engaged in the garage business. The bride has been one of our popular teachers and a lady of whom all admire, and respect. The News extends its best wishes to Mr and Mrs Scott with the hope that the best things in life may be theirs at all times.

The family moved from Geddes, Charles Mix County, South Dakota to McMinnville, Yamhill County, Oregon in 1938 due to the dustbowl and Depression. Thomas left first to work bringing in crops and Clara brought 6 of the 8 children (the two oldest had left home) and the dog out in a Model A in May, after school was out for summer.
