Thomas enlisted in the U. S. Army on May 22, 1945, in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was married at the time. "Togy" and "Dorie" had four children, three daughters and one son. Togy's obituary reads, "Thomas J. "Togy" Ryan, 72, died at 11:21 p.m. Monday in Parkview Memorial Hospital. Mr. Ryan, born in New Haven, was retired as head of maintenance at St. Charles' Catholic Church. Surviving are his wife, Glendora; three daughters...; and three sisters, Delores Zink and Elsie Alter, both of Fort Wayne, and Marjorie Wagner of Monroeville. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in D.O. McComb & Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, and at 11 a.m. in St. Charles' Catholic Church. Friends may call from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, where a wake service will be at 8 p.m. Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery. Preferred memorials are gifts to the church for Masses or the American Cancer Society." [Fort Wayne Journal Gazette, Wednesday 21 April 1982, pg. 6A] Dorie's obituary reads, "GLENDORA A. (DORIE) RYAN, 78, died Monday at Lutheran Hospital. Born in Van Wert County, Ohio, she lived in Fort Wayne for 41 years. She retired in 1979 as a foreman for Luginbill Wire and Die Co. after 17 years. Her husband, Thomas J., died in 1982. Surviving are three daughters, Carol R. Blum and Brenda S. Miller, both of Fort Wayne, and Marsha L. Busche of Leo; five sisters, Loretta M. Wagner of Monroeville, Rose T. Voirol of Ashtabula, Ohio, Joanna A. Siefert of Fort Wayne, Leona M. Naumcheff of Santa Maria, Calif., and Henriette L. Hile of Hamilton; nine granchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Services at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 8669 Auburn Road. Calling from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at D. O. McComb & Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplewood Road, with a vigil service at 3 p.m. Calling also one hour before services at the church. Burial in Highland Park Cemetery.
