    9 Oct 1744 - For divers good causes and for the natural affection, I John Mosely of Goochland Go., have for my loving son-in-law, Thomas Poor, and my daughter, Elizabeth Poor, I give them 3 Negroes; 1 man named Ben;, 1 woman named Frank [sic], and 1 girl named Sue, with their increase. The Negroes are given to the Poors during their natural lives. After the death of Thomas and Elizabeth Poor, the 3 Negroes and their issue to be equally divided among the children of my daughter, Elizabeth Poor. Signed Oct. 9, 1744 - John Moseley.

    9 Oct 1744 - Thomas Poor, Sr. of Hanover County for love and affection to loving son Thomas Poor, Jr. and wife Elizabeth (Mosley) of Goochland County... 200 acres in Goochland on north side of James River bounded by James George's land, Arthur Hopkins. Dated 9 October 1744. Witnesses: James George, Abraham Poor, Robert Estes, Jr. 16 Oct. 1744, Thomas Poor, Sr. acknowledged this deed which was ordered recorded. Susannah, his wife, privately examined, relinquished her right of dower in land. [Goochland County DB 4:434]

    [Deeds of gift from John Moseley Senior and Thomas Poor III to Thomas Poor IV and his wife (dau of John Moseley) dated 16 Oct 1744 would seem to indicate that this is about the time of their marriage.]

    We the undersigned have made a fresh division of the Slaves therein mentioned, & find according to the valuation of them the sum of fifteen pounds ten shillings the proportion coming to each of the following person, viz. Mary Thomas, Elizabeth Haden, Susannah Scruggs, Ann Lee, Mildred Cosby, Lucey[sic - Lucy] Smith, Jane Lambert, Sarah Britt, William Poor & Thomas Poor all the surviving children of Thomas Poor decd. that have been brought to our knowledge
