- ↑ Reports that Thomas Nichols married Mary Moulton are based on a 1852 misreading of Malden Records, that was perpetuated by Savage. Mary Moulton m. Thomas Mitchell and the name was misread as Nichols. See the discussion here.
- Regardless of the above Malden problem, it remains problematical whether this Thomas and Mary are the same as the Thomas and Mary that had twins in Charlestown in 1662/63 and then apparently left, with this Thomas and Mary showing up in Salisbury about 1664 and then to Amesbury about 1665. It has been assumed that they are the same on this page. This requires assuming the twin Thomas died, despite no explicit death record being found, since a later son is named Thomas. But this doesn't seem too farfetched.
