I noted on one of your postings a Thomas Kilgore II son of Thomas I, and I am wondering where the information for Thomas Kilgore II came from. I did not realize there was a l, II, and III. That may explain the many deeds etc of Thomas Kilgore in Caswell Co, while the Thomas I was away on business and I don't believe Thomas III was old enough to conduct business. I will have to get out my files and look at them again.
I am of the Thomas Kilgore line below.
As you can see, I completely left out Thomas Kilgore II.
Hope to hear from you.

This is the obituary that appears in the book, Robertson County, Tennessee Obituaries and Death Records, 1802-1930 by Gregory G. Poole, 1999, pg 108: GUNN, THOMAS The venerable servant of God, as has been announced already, is no more. He fell asleep in Jesus on the 13th of May, 1859, aged 89 years, 1 month and 3 days. He was born in Nottoway County, Virginia, April 10, 1770. While young, his father removed to Caswell County, North Carolina, where at about the age of 18 years of age, he professed justifying faith in Christ and united with the Methodist Episcopal church. He soon began to preach the gospel, but at what precise time he was regularly licensed, we have not the means of ascertaining. He was ordained deacon at Lynchburg, Virginia, Feb. 7, 1808, by Bishop Asbury. He was ordained elder by Biship McKendree in Tennessee, on the 4th of October. He emigrated to Tennessee at an early age, and was long a citizen of Robertson County. He raised a family, and by industry and economy was able to provide amply for their wants and to aid each child to make a fair start in the business of life. His latter years were rendered burdensome in some degree because of a serious fall from his horse. His brother, the late Rev. James Gunn was his yoke-fellow, and for many years side by side they labored for the advancement of the Redeemer's case. The late Rev. William Gunn, long and favorably known in Kentucky as an efficient itinerant preacher and a sweet singer in Israel was the son of James Gunn and a nephew of the subject of this notice. J. B. McFerrin Nashville Christian Advocate July 14, 1859
