One researcher claims that Ruth's father was Stephen Eggleston (and mother Elizabeth Bennett): "Sailed from London in ship "Castle," but died before ship landed in Boston." See Genealogy, Blodgett family (Ten Generations), Blodgett, Edwin Augustus, ((Barre, VT, Modern Printing, 1969)), p. 7.

Others say that Stephen and Elizabeth (Barnett) Eggleston were not Ruth's parents at all. (Dawes-Gates, p. 284-5.)
