  2. Marriage Recorded, in Cambridge City Tribune. (Cambridge City, Indiana).

6 Dec 1883, p3 - Mr. and Mrs. Sanford Lackey have been married since December 3, 1839 - forty-four years ago last Monday. Their daughters, Mrs. Ayler and Mrs. Mosbaugh, concluded that to give them a surprise would be just the thing, and consequently they perfected the arrangements, and invited about forty of their friends to join them in the evening's entertainment. The surprise was complete. Mrs. Lackey had gone down to spend the evening with her daughter, Alice, and the company was silently admitted into the front part of their house, while Mr. Lackey was dreaming the hours away in the rear sitting room. The presence of their friends was not known until Mrs. L's return home, and the meeting was a perfect surprise. The hours from eight until twelve were most joyously spent, and the excellent supper was a feature of the entertainment that was delightful, and was partaken of with a zest which showed that the company was hungry as well as happy. At a late hour the friends departed for their homes, extending to this aged couple many, happy returns.
