1850 census: Annotated, compiled by John P. Alderman (1979) Samuel was from Franklin Co. and he married there in 1824 Mary A. Ashworth, daughter of John and Susanna (Brizedine) Ashworth and widow of Wyatt Matthews. They came here in 1829 and eventually settled near the county farm. He and Polly had seven children, some of whom died about the time they were grown. He died here in 1864.
