Samuel migrated from Kentucky to Indiana in 1812. Samuel McConnell married Mary Ann Morgan April 28, 1819. (Clarke county Ind. marriage records). Neither parents are known. John and Samuel were brothers. John was born in Dublin, Ireland, and according to 1850 Ind. Jackson county census, Samuel was born in Kentucky. (Also his wife). It was thought that Samuel was also born in Dublin, Ireland, but he does not list himself as a foreigner, which was required in census taking. Sometime after 1812, John, b. Dublin, Ireland and Samuel McConnell b. KY 1793 according to the 1850 census (they were brothers), came to Clark Co. IN to stake out their claim, clear some land and build cabins. They returned to KY to bring their families and belongings to their new home. The new Pioneers included in-laws and friends. The McConnells loved the Frontier. Samuel at the age of 18 was a member of Pigeon Roast Baptist Church in Scott Co. IN. Soon afterwards, he was licensed to preach the gospel. In 1829, Samuel and Mary Ann Morgan (b. 1798 and m. April 28, 1819) were members of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Jackson Co. IN and they had 9 children, 5 sons and 4 daughters. Their oldest child was William, b. 1820, Clark Co. IN and he married Ellen Draper and then Marietta Bohall. Their next child was Charles and he married Elizabeth Rogers, third child was John and he m. Elizabeth Briner, the fourth child was a girl, Sarah Ann and she m. a Brown, the fifth child was Isaac and he m. Margaret Robertson, the sixth child was a daughter and nothing is known about her, the seventh and eighth children were Thomas 17 and Rachel 16 in the 1850 census. Rachel was born 1834 and m. James W. Bradley on June 2, 1861 in Brownstown, Jackson Co. IN. Thomas m. Malinda. There was a ninth child that was a daughter. The above names were from the deed of Samuel's estate. Charles & Isaac both died soon after their father. (Typhoid fever killed thousands during the 1850s and 1860s so it may be the cause of their deaths.) Samuel was a minister from 1829 to 1853. Samuel wrote his last circular letter in 1859 and his obit was given in 1863 minutes. He married many of the McConnells. References
