"Elizabeth More, m. in 1665 Samuel Hayes [FOOF 1:269]. … Elizabeth More was still not married on 1 February 1664/5, when John Winthrop Jr. treated her [WMJ 583]. On 1 March 1665/6, and for several days thereafter, he did treat 'Haies Samuell his wife of Norwack now at Farmington at Isaack More's her father hath lien in about 2 weeks & is weak' [WMJ 630, 631]. From the will of Isaac More, we know that he had a daughter who married a Hayes and had a son Isaac Hayes. Samuel Hayes did have such a son, born at Norwalk on 27 August 1682. and, when this son died, his estate was to 'return to the heirs of the deceased Isaac Haies at the decease of his father and mother Mr. Samuel and Mrs. Elizabeth Hayes' [FOOF 1:269]. We conclude that the wife of Samuel Hayes was Elizabeth More, daughter of Isaac, and that they married sometime in 1665."
