NOTE: Rolleiv's children Mari (who could have been born later than estimated), Kittil and Guri could have been children of either marriage. Mari and Kittil have been arbitrarily placed in this marriage and Guri in Rolleiv's second marriage, but if more evidence of their birth years is found, this could be changed.

'Rolleiv Anundsson frå Nordre Lindheim bruka Klevar frå slutten av 1500-talet. Han var g m NN Larsd. av Tordenstjernætta (dotter til soknepresten i Sauherad, ...). Rolleiv var så g m dorte Jonsd. frå Gvannes. ... 'Det er noko uklart med giftarmåla til Rolleiv. Det som er heilt visst, er at han blei gift før 1595 og at han var "svoger" til sokneprest Lauritz Matsøn i Sauherad. Dette nemner biskop Jens Nilssøn to gonger i visitasbøkene sine for åra 1574-97 ... Det syner seg at bispen nyttar uttrykket svoger fleire gonger i det some bokverket i meininga svigerson og ikkje i den tydinga me brukar ordet. ...
translation: Rolleiv Anundsson from northern Lindheim farmed at Klevar from the late 1500's. He was married to NN Larsdatter of Tordenstjern lineage (daughter of the parish pastor in Sauherad). Rolleiv was also married to Dorte Jonsdatter from Gvannes. ... There is something unclear about Rolleiv's marriages. It is completely certain that he was married before 1595 and that he was "svoger" to the pastor Lauritz Matsøn in Sauherad. Bishop Jens Nilssøn mentions this twice in his visitation books for the years 1574 to 1597. ... It can be shown that the bishop uses the term "svoger" several times in the books meaning son-in-law and not in the sense that we use the word [as brother-in-law].
The author goes on to explain why he believes that Rolleiv was the son-in-law of Lauritz Matsøn and not his brother-in-law.
