58. JOHN1 DRESSER, "shoemaker," had an acre and half house lot on Bradford Street, 1643. He was about 61 years old, 1668 (Essex Ct. Files). He brought with him his wife, Mary. He was buried 19 Apr., 1672. His will, dated 5 Mar., 1671-2, mentions wife, Mary} eldest son, John; son Samuel and daughter Elizabeth; grandchildren John, Mary and Martha, children of son John; two daughters (unnamed), children of son Samuel (Essex Probate).

58-1. LIEUT. JOHN2 DRESSER (John 58), born about 1640; married 27 Nov., 1662, Martha, daughter of Richard Thorley (198). Thomas Thorley of Newbury calls him "beloved brother," and makes him executor of his will, 1713. She died 29 June, 1700. He married (2) 7 Jan., 1701-2, Rebecca, widow of James Dickinson (54-1). She died 2 Apr., 1718. He moved to Newbury before 13 Apr., 1721 (Essex Deeds, 41: 152). He died 14 Mar., 1723-4 (Ch. E.), in his 85th year. "John Dresser formerly of Rowley, dyed at Newbury Mar. 14th 1724-5" (Newbury R.).

58-3. SAMUEL2 DRESSER (John 58), born 10: 12 mo. 1643; married 9 Dec, 1668, Mary, daughter of Thomas Leaver (115). "Samuel Dresser, senr dyed most suddenly Dec. 28, 1704" (Ch. E.). Administration granted, 1705 (Essex Probate, 308: 330). In the settlement of his estate his widow, Mary; eldest son, Samuel; sons John, Joseph, Thomas, Jeremiah, Benjamin and Henry; daughters Mary, Elizabeth and Hannah, are mentioned. Sons Samuel and Joseph take the real estate and pay the other heirs (Essex Probate File, 8323). His widow, Mary, died 21 Aug., 1714. Her will, dated 25 July, 1714, mentions children Mary, Samuel, Elizabeth, John, Joseph, Hannah, Thomas, Benjamin and Henry (Essex Probate, 311: 184).
