  2.   Source:United States, Massachusetts, Middlesex, Woburn. Records of Births, Deaths, and Marriages, 1640-1900 lists (among others) the following four births for Reuben and Esther Richardson in Woburn:
Richardson, Esther, d. of Reuben and Esther, April 16, 1729.
Richardson, Reuben, s. of Reuben and Esther, Dec. 22, 1731.
Richardson, Reuben, s. of Reuben and Esther, May 23, 1733.
Richardson, Ruth, d. of Reuben and Esther, May 23, 1733.
The normal interpretation of this would be that the first child named Reuben died in infancy, and the surviving Reuben was the one that was a twin with Ruth. However, Source:Transcript of epitaphs in Woburn first and second burial grounds : chronologically arranged with brief illustrative notes and Source:The Vinton memorial, comprising a genealogy of the descendants of John Vinton of Lynn, 1648 : also, genealogical sketches of several allied families, namely, those both assign the birth date of 22 Dec 1731 to Reuben. Probably Ruth's birth was mistranscribed in a copy as Reuben leading to the appearance of two Reubens. But since there is no death record, and the age at death goes better with the first birth, it appears there was only one Reuben in this family.
